Contemporary ceramics

Each year the Bernard Palissy Museum organises an exhibition and sale of contemporary ceramics where you can discover the work of great ceramists of our time. A permanent exhibition is dedicated to the life and work of Bernard Palissy.

Current exhibition

From May 14 to October 1, 2023, the Bernard Palissy museum presents an exhibition on the sigillata lands. A part is devoted to the history of this technique, then we discover works belonging to the museum’s collection but also seven current ceramists who excel in this technique.

The Hamlet of Saint-Avit

Between the Périgord Noir and the Quercy, a short distance from the Chateaux of Bonaguil, Biron and Gavaudun, the picturesque valley of the Lède of Gavaudun offers its canvas of verdure to the hamlet of Saint-Avit, a remarkable architectural ensemble where is to be found the supposed birth place of Bernard Palissy.

Museum collection

Most of the collection of contemporary ceramics has been purchased by the municipality or the association of the Friends of the Museum in the course of the organised exhibitions, with the intention that the museum preserves a witness of the reflections of the artists on a theme, or a technique, at a given moment.
